No order is confirmed until the customer's signed order form has been received by Jennifer Cakes, and the deposit payment shown received and cleared.

Payment

Balance of payment will be due on or before delivery/collection. If balance has not been received and cleared by this date, then the order will be deemed cancelled and any deposit paid  (other than hire deposits) will be non-refundable.

Payment may be made by any of the following :   Cash (in person only), bank transfer, or crossed postal order (made payable to Jennifer Cakes).

To pay by bank transfer,  please ask for details.

Alterations / cancellation

Every effort will be made to accommodate changes to the order wherever possible. However, please note that no changes can be accepted within one calendar month of the collection/delivery date.

In the event of alteration/cancellation of the order or part of the order by the customer, any work already completed towards this by Jennifer Cakes will still be chargeable & deducted from the deposit paid, whether or not this element of the order is subsequently altered/cancelled. In addition, in the event of entire order cancellation by the customer:

- Up to one calendar month before the event,  any remaining deposit will then be returned to the customer (excluding date reservation deposits).
- Up to three weeks before the event, 50% of any remaining deposit will be returned  (excluding date reservation deposits).
- No refund will be given for cancellations within three weeks of the event.
- Date reservation deposits are non-refundable in any circumstances, except in the unlikely event that the order has to be cancelled by Jennifer Cakes.

In the unlikely event of the order having to be cancelled by Jennifer Cakes, the customer will be notified at the earliest opportunity and any deposits paid (including date reservation deposits) will be returned in full, regardless whether of any work has already been carried out or not. If desired, every effort will also be made to find an alternative cake maker who can take on the order should this happen.

Cake shelf life & storage instructions 

Sponge-based cakes (including chocolate sponge) are best eaten within three days of collection/delivery. Fruit/carrot cakes are best eaten within 10 days of collection/delivery once cut, but may be kept uncut for up to 21 days. Any cake not eaten immediately should be stored in a cool place to maintain freshness (and once cut,  in an airtight container). Cakes of any type should NOT be refrigerated. No responsibility can be accepted by Jennifer Cakes for deterioration of any cake not treated in accordance with these instructions.

Guarantee

In the unlikely event of any error made by Jennifer Cakes in the design of the cake(s), i.e. which is not in accordance with the design details agreed on the order form, this must be notified immediately on collection/delivery and before acceptance of the cake(s), or if the customer will not be taking delivery in person, then within 12 hours of photographs of the finished cake(s) being sent by Jennifer Cakes. Otherwise, the cake(s) will be deemed to be correct as ordered.  In the event of no photographs being sent to the customer in advance by Jennifer Cakes and the cake(s) being accepted on the customer's behalf by the venue, any error must be notified within 24 hours of the occasion date, together with photographic evidence of the error.  

In the unlikely event of any problem with the construction/assembly of tiered cakes, this must be notified to Jennifer Cakes within 24 hours of delivery/collection (or of the occasion date, whichever is later), together with photographic evidence of the problem.  No responsibility can be accepted for tiered cakes assembled by any third party unless it is shown that cake(s) were in some way unsuitable for tiered assembly.

In the unlikely event of any problem with the quality of the cake(s), this must be notified to Jennifer Cakes within 24 hours of delivery/collection (or of the occasion date, whichever is later), and samples demonstrating the problem made available for Jennifer Cakes to examine. 

Hired items

Hire deposits will be refunded when hired items are returned to Jennifer Cakes in their original condition & packaging (but unwashed please) within 7 days of delivery/collection date.  Unless agreed in advance that items will be collected after the occasion by Jennifer Cakes, it is the customer's responsibility to ensure their safe return.
