Terms & conditions of ordering

No order is confirmed until a signed completed order form has been received by Jennifer Cakes (JC), and the deposit payment shown received & cleared.

Payment

Balance shown is due on or before delivery/collection. If balance has not been received and cleared by this date, then the order will be deemed cancelled and any deposit paid (other than hire deposits) will be non-refundable. Payment can be made by any of the following methods:  

  • Cash (in person only please)
  • Pingit (see www.barclays.co.uk/pingit) 
  • Crossed postal order     
  • Bank transfer  (please ask for details)

 
Alterations/ cancellation

Every effort will be made to accommodate changes to the order wherever possible. However, please note that no changes can be accepted within 3 weeks of the collection/delivery date.

In the event of alteration/cancellation of the order or part of the order by the customer, any work already completed will still be chargeable & deducted from the deposit paid. In addition, in the event of entire order cancellation by the customer:

- Up to 3 weeks before the event, any remaining deposit will be returned to the customer
- Up to 2 weeks before the event, 50% of any remaining deposit will be returned
- No refund will be given for cancellations within 2 weeks of the 'Cake to be ready on' date shown on the order

Cake shelf life & storage instructions 

Sponge-based cakes (including chocolate) are best eaten within three days of collection/delivery. Fruit/carrot cakes are best eaten within 10 days of collection/delivery once cut, but may be kept uncut for up to 21 days. Any cake not eaten immediately should be stored in a cool place, but NOT in a fridge. Once cut, keep in an airtight container. No responsibility can be accepted by JC for deterioration of any cake not treated in accordance with these instructions.

Guarantee

In the unlikely event of any error by JC in the design of the cake(s), i.e.which is not in accordance with the order details shown overleaf, this must be notified immediately on collection/delivery and before acceptance of the cake(s). Otherwise, the cake(s) will be deemed to be correct as ordered. In the event of the cake(s) being accepted on the customer's behalf by the venue, any error must be notified within 24 hours of the occasion date, together with photographic evidence of the error. 

In the unlikely event of any problem with the construction/assembly of tiered cakes, this must be notified to JC within 24 hours of delivery/collection (or of the occasion date, whichever is later), together with photographic evidenceo f the problem. No responsibility can be accepted for tiered cakes assembled by any third party unless it is shown that the cake(s) were in some way unsuitable for tiered assembly.

In the unlikely event of any problem with the quality of the cake(s), this must be notified to JC within 24 hours of delivery/collection (or of the occasion date, whichever is later), and samples demonstrating the problem made available for JC to examine. 

Hired items

Hire deposits will be refunded when hired items are returned to JC in their original condition & packaging (but unwashed please) within 7 days of the occasion date. Unless agreed in advance that items will be collected by JC, it is the customer's responsibility to ensure their safe return. If items are not returned within this time, JC reserves the right to collect them, and any mileage costs incurred will be deducted from the refundable hire deposit paid at a rate of £0.45/mile (return trip).
